Wombs; Femicide Defined (2017-2025)

Wombs; Femicide Defined is a compilation of interrelated documentary and public works produced while overpowered by violently suppressive and silencing forces that began to crescendo in 2017 for me amidst worldwide backlash to progresses gained by women’s rights movements. While some are published or exhibited, Wombs; Femicide Defined comprises an expanding archive of media artifacts and objects that record experiences by using tools of my profession: documentary journalism, arts and education.

This page compiles and contextualizes Wombs; Femicide Defined incompletely and on an indefinite timeline. It will update in ways that are fragmentary, non-linear and non-chronological in hopes of culmination. The central organizing point is a nexus living and working in conditions controlled by state-sanctioned suppression. In that, regressive politics and culturally festering hostility to women’s work and feminist advocacy against sexual and gendered violence in all of its forms is both condition of making Wombs; Femicide Defined and its subject.
